Many fuel treatments use CHONS—Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen, Nitrogen, Sulfur—as constituents, mirroring those found in fuel. They alter the product’s percentage makeup, lacking unique efficacy. EPA certification isn’t required for treatments with these ingredients, leading to minimal testing.
Elevated cetane numbers (44-51) offer no substantial advantage beyond manufacturer specs. Lower cetane numbers ensure optimal fuel availability. Extremely low cetane (below 44) can lead to challenging cold starts and engine issues.
